Interim RSO Coverage and Ongoing License Support
Fox Consulting has provided multi-year support to a university radioactive materials license, including interim Radiation Safety Officer coverage, license maintenance, source inventory and surveys, and sealed-source leak testing. The work kept a program functioning during transitions and provided continuity across routine compliance and more complex technical work.
Historical Site Assessment and Final Status Survey Development
Fox Consulting reviewed a large legacy record set and developed a historical site assessment and radiological characterization plan for former university research spaces. The work included survey package development, sample-location mapping, field radiological work, and final status survey report development. The project required determining which materials and surfaces needed distinct background measurements and documentation approaches, and planning remaining work on a waste-storage area.
Routine Compliance Support and License Consultation
Ongoing radiation safety program support for a university, including radioactive materials license consultation, routine laboratory surveys, wipe testing, and compliance support such as source controls, waste reporting, and annual program review. The engagement covered both routine recurring compliance and technical judgment when the institution needed it.
Radiation Protection Program and Implementation Documents for Advanced Reactor Environment
Fox Consulting contributed to a DOE-oriented radiation protection program and implementation documents for an advanced reactor and fuel-handling setting. The work integrated requirements, work scenarios, technical bases, and field instructions across a broad set of program elements: radiological work permits, surveys and monitoring, ALARA planning, contamination control, radioactive material control, emergency radiological operations, bioassay and internal dosimetry, effluent and environmental monitoring, waste controls, and release of property from radiological control. Building a coherent program from the ground up while coordinating with the prime contractor and client specialists.
NRC Radiation Safety Program Development for Isotope Production
Fox Consulting contributed to the development of a radiation safety program and implementing procedures for an isotope-production company, supporting the program through regulatory review and the NRC licensing process.
Multiphase Radiological and Environmental Soil Characterization for Proposed Development
Fox Consulting supported a multiphase soil characterization and technical report for a proposed development project. The work brought together a historical site model, surface and deep-soil sampling, radiological and selected chemical analyses, laboratory and chain-of-custody records, comparison criteria, data quality assessment, interpretation, and limitations for a client decision. The purpose was development due diligence: producing an understandable, defensible report that supported a business decision rather than a regulatory closure.
Radiation Safety and Equipment Procedure Review for Security Screening Systems
Fox Consulting reviewed and revised radiation safety and equipment procedures and their compliance basis for CT and X-ray explosive-detection systems. Practical procedure review outside traditional research-reactor or decommissioning settings.
Qualified Radiation Technician Placement
Fox Consulting identified and arranged a Level IV radiation technician placement for a client requiring qualified field personnel. We found the right person through our technical network for a defined project assignment.
